An English Aesthetic Movement fire grate in cast iron with bronze finials. The tapered and fluted front supports with bronze finials and splayed feet. The basket with geometric style decoration and rope twist bar, the fire back with sunburst motif.

The aesthetic movement was a late nineteenth century movement that championed pure beauty and ‘art for art’s sake’ emphasising the visual and sensual qualities of art and design over practical, moral or narrative considerations.
