A Large Gilt Bronze French Empire Style Chandelier
A large very well cast and gilt bronze chandelier or plafonnier from the late 19th to early 20th century. The large acanthus leafed ceiling rose suspending five rope twist bars, which in turn support a segmented gilt bronze bowl, decorated with ribbon ties of laurel and a circular band of worked C scrolls. The segments with descending bell drops and five opaque glass pieces of shade. A superior quality chandelier with intricate casting and fine detail.
