An Antique Italian Renaissance Style Specimen Marble Fireplace


A rare and unusual 19th century Italian Renaissance revival antique fireplace. The jambs stood on Belgian Black marble foot blocks with Breche panels to front and side returns, both framed with Siena marble mouldings. The fronts with Bardiglio marble semi engaged columns topped with Gold gilt stone Corinthian capitals. The frieze in Saint Annes Marble with conforming graduated curved panels of Breccia marble with Siena marble borders to front and side returns. The carved centre cartouche of foliate Bardiglio with a Jasper marble medallion within. All beneath a large generously moulded, stepped and breakfront Belgian black marble shelf. An extraordinary surround purchased and imported from Rome Italy. Circa 1840
