A Pair Of Antique French Finely Carved Louis XV Carrara Marble Fireplaces

An incredibly well carved pair of early 19th century Louis XV style antique Carrara marble fireplaces, but also for sale individually. The console jambs cantered and carved with stiff acanthus above the foot blocks, descending blue bells and S scrolls with shell and large carved scroll end blocks. The panelled side returns deep and shaped. The frieze carved all across in high relief of scrolled acanthus and foliage. The central cartouche intricately carved again of scrolled acanthus, large central shell and rosettes. All beneath a large serpentine shelf. Unusual to find a pair of finely carved Louis XV marble fireplaces of this calibre.
