A Pair Of 18th Century French Louis XV Breche Violette Marble Fireplaces
A large period pair of Louis XV fireplaces executed in superior quality Breche Violette marble. The jambs with deep side returns retaining their original brass vents, the front panels cantered and panelled with scrolled tops. The corner blocks of carved shell and descending bell drops with scrolled tops again. A slim serpentine frieze with carved large central cartouche of C scrolls and acanthus with foliate and flowers within a fielded panel. The serpentine shaped shelf above. All stone backed. Wonderful variegation in colour to the period Breche marble, fine crisp carving. Superior period Louis XV fireplaces circa 1770
