A Large Rococo Carved Siena Marble Fireplace
A large chimneypiece executed in yellow Siena marble. The central cartouche carving Hercules wearing the Nemean lionskin, flanked on either side by carved foliate scrollwork, which is reflected on the corners of the panelled frieze and again on the cantered console jambs. The jambs with acanthus carving to tops and fluted end blocks with husks within. The deep side returns panelled. An imposing statement piece due to size and colour, very well drawn and executed.
