An almost life size polished plaster bust/torso of Venus de Milo. Very well executed. Italian circa 1950.
The Venus de Milo, also known as the Aphrodite of Melos, is a renowned ancient Greek marble sculpture depicting a goddess of love and beauty. Discovered on the island of Melos (now Milos) in 1820, it was later acquired by the French and donated to the Louvre Museum in 1821. The statue is a key example of Hellenistic art and is celebrated for its idealized beauty and enigmatic incompleteness due to the missing arms.
