A large impressive French Empire period Statuary white marble and Ormolu mounted chimneypiece of superior quality. Elegantly drawn with well cast Ormolu, Lightly veined Statuary marble and a centre plaque of rare Alabastro a Pecorella.
The jambs with semi detached tapering columns, fluted with Ormolu within and circular laurel socle, surmounted by Ormolu Ionic capitals with swags.
The Frieze with end blocks of Square Patarae flanking a long slender centre tablet of Alabasto a Pecorella, a now quite rare Alabaster. Fielded with Ormolu laurel leaf and flanked by Fielded white panels in conforming edging.
A large break front shel above with panelled side returns.
All stone backed and hand tooled, this is a very good example of a French Empire fireplace circa 18000
