A Large French Empire Black Marble Fireplace
A large French Empire fireplace executed in Belgian Black marble. The console jambs with carved and scrolled acanthus to front and anthemion carving to the side terminating in finely carved lion paw feet supported on large plinth foot blocks. The shaped, moulded and fielded corner blocks conforming with the frieze. All beneath a large deep and wide mantel with shaped and stepped edge. A fine example of an early 19th century empire period fireplace.
