A sophisticated and superior quality, early 19th century columned surround executed in lightly fossil strewn Black Kilkenny Irish marble. The fully detached columns supported on solid kilkenny foot blocks, with Socles at foot and top supporting solid end blocks with cushion moulding. The deeply moulded frieze beneath a very generous stepped and edged mantle. A superb example of an early 19th century period Georgian fireplace.
